Blown head gaskets usually show as bubbles blowing in your coolant.
And a caramel milk shake under your engine oil filler cap from coolant mixing with oil and cylinder gases..
Don't know much about Jeep cooling systems - but the thermostat certainly provides a flow restriction in the system and the pump is there to overcome this.
Frothing would usually indicate that there is some air getting in there soemwhere? Low coolant level? Cavitating water pump?
Be intersting to see if the frothing goes away when you get the new thermostat in there.
