If your drive way offers an amount of slip to your wheels loose stones so as not to allow axle bind and drive shaft wind up it would be no different to traversing a steep rock slope no lose stones in the bush that you need low range for just to climb but has no slip on wheels as this could also do same
If you do have trouble reversing and weave a lot that can create the wind up but the lose stones normally allow wheels to slip. Only you now how lose your drive way is.
