XJ - Back on the Road after 11 Months
Hey AJOR!!!!
Finally, after 11 months my XJ is back on the road. After, replacing the ECT Sensor, Valve Gasket then finding out the Cyl Head is Warped - Getting it cleaned, polished, shaved, new gasket set on, new HD radiator, new pump, new thermo and housing, new cat converter and lastly, calipers rebuilt..
Shes back on the road!!
Now, minor issues - AC
Can anyone tell me, how much gas does the XJ Aircon system hold on a 98 model.
Secondly,
Whats the best coolant/mixture to use on these bad boys. In QLD so, its pretty much a variation between Hot and Medium all year long. Ambient temp yearly variation of 5degrees to 45 degrees..

A/C capacity I'm pretty sure is 560g of r134a for the 98. Congrats on getting back on the road. Couldn't stand to go with out my XJ that long.

Great to hear
Use quality 33% premix coolant - I like Nulon.

It's a really good idea to use a 50% mix of a good concentrate.... like the Green Nulon.
50% mix gives best protection to help prevent boiling of coolant - always a big plus with an XJ.
50% is also what Jeep recommends for hot or cold climates, all year round.

There has been much debate on this, most argue 33% for hotter climates works best. Each to their own

Thanks guys, I appreciate it! Can anyone confirm the 560g of gas?
Also, some say 33%, some say %50... After some reading, the purpose of coolant is anti freeze, anti boil and anti corrosion. Apparently, water is better for heat dissapation so they say 30 coolant 70 water, as opposed to 50 to 50.
Any more thoughts people?
