I lived up around Ingham 11 years and then Townsville for about 6 years - I hear from my brother in T'ville there are some tracks around Mt Louisa area, and also some out near Blackriver which are close. Apparently a few others out the back of Mt Stewart and Hervey's range but I'm not sure where the army territory starts on those tracks.

If you feel like a bit of a day trip or two and you don't mind a swim I would recommend going up to check out Wallaman Falls (its the single biggest drop fall in Aus and maybe the southern hemisphere and very spectacular after a bit of rain) about 2 1/2 hours drive from T'ville. Or head up the highway to Jourama Falls - about 45 mins from T'ville and my pick for a swim. Or head up the Paluma range to Paluma, maybe check out the dam and the rainforest - there used to be some good tracks up there past the dam but I haven't been up there in a 4x4 in ages sorry.

I can ring my bro and see if he has any more info on this I can pass on

cheers

Cheers sheeds,

My brother in law wheels a bit up there and I will see if he knows of the locations you have mentioned.

JTO,

Hope you have a good time up round Townsville, and if you get a chance get out to Wallaman Falls - that would be my pick as the most spectacular. My folks said the other night they have had a bit of rain up there so there will be a decent flow over the falls

have fun and safe wheelin

Just got back from Townsville and its not a bad place. I did not go offroading as the engine light came on again just outside of Bundy and stayed on the whole time so did not want to tempt fate at this stage. Heaps of water fell from the sky and any unpaved areas turned to slush.

Did a run up to the Falls and also to Cairns to look around. Maybe next time for offroad up that way.

Saw heaps of XJ's, a couple of TJ's, some JK's and 2 WH GC's and a Commander.

Did not get to look at the falls themselves but went to Abergowie to see a friend, only really a stones throw from the falls.
