Not for a XJ you dont as they dont have one!

They use a MAP sensor instead which is up on the firewall in the middle there.

Yep the diesel does have one in the air filter box. Turns out I don't need a new one after all. The XJ was behaving rather badly - no power, lots of smoke, couldn't get it up a small slope.
The MAF (mass airflow sensor) was covered in crap and the computer couldn't work out how much airflow there was. So it didn't know how much fuel to stick in the cylinders.
Cleaned it up and all is back to normal.
Jeep wanted $1500 bucks for a new one. As if.

I thought you were referring to a petrol which is what my comments relate to. Better to mention which type you have in future.
