The issue with GPS in general is when they do a 'cold start' they don't know where they are or where the satellites are.
So they go through a 'searching' routine which can take several minutes to a hour depending on GPS , location etc.
It the GPS is moving they can take even longer , sometimes even never.
Solution?
Park the car in a clear open area and leave the GPS running till it finds a 'lock'
