Default Do diesels have rich or lean condition?

I have 3.0 CRD and i removed the pipe that goes from EGR to the intake manifold. I found that someone already had done a job on it and there was no gasket. They had put in silicone. It's Saturday and I are on the Sunshine coast so it will need to come from Mel.

I closed it as is and now the car has misfire/vibrations from 900 - 1300 RPM which changes when you go over it and the engine goes smooth after that.

I would suspect I have introduced an intake leak. The exhaust gases were very pungent too.

Question is, what happens if there is a leak ? does engine compensate it or what ?

Why are those misfires happening now?

If the leak is downstream of the MAF sensor then the engine can't compensate by adjusting air fuel ratio. You'll need to fix that ASAP.

Does MAP play any role in it?

Yes it does, particularly in the operation of the EGR valve.

Just had a look at the manual you should be good to just cut a new one, go to supercheap/repco/burson buy some gasket card and make one, even give it a smear of manifold silicon to make sure and you will be good i reckon.

I was thinking it was the pipe on top of the engine it has flange connectors not clamp so where would this pipe of yours be then.... it looks like an exhaust clamp so a metal fibre gasket would work. ...... we are talking about the VM Eco diesel aren't we ???
