Nov 2012 'Editor in the Chief'
Chatting on the radio while travelling to the National Jeep Jamboree reminded me how fast the years have gone, especially when talking about Jeep events. Matt, who had volunteered to drive the Chief to the Jamboree, was reminiscing about the last time he had driven the Chief to a Jamboree. It was ten years ago, he was 19 then, the Chief was white and powered by a V8 diesel and it was the Sydney Jeep Club's first Jamboree.
In our convoy there were Jeepers who were attending their first Jeep Jamboree, some were relatively new to the Jeep world and some had been Jeep owners for a few years. Others had numerous Jamborees under their belt, but all were excited about the trip and attending the Jamboree. Once there I would be seeing people I had met at the first National Jeep Jamboree back in 1990.
This enthusiasm continued and was evident among other Jamboree participants I encountered throughout the event. It wasn't just the Jeeps but people catching up with each other, a bit like a reunion. From stock standard models through to highly modified, to classic and military Jeeps everyone mixes well and enjoys all Jeep models.
Enjoy our coverage of the Jamboree this issue and well done to the Sydney Jeep Club and you, the Jeep owners, for a great Jamboree.
Enjoy,
Michael Bowen
