Hello all,
Thought I would share a few of my recent upgrades to my '08 CRD Commander.
Like a little bit of short notice camping and shade, so have added a RTT and 2.5m2 awning from Gordie Gear. Have had these for a couple of years now and love them.
With that done I opted for a Murchison OME lift. Works well and again very happy.
Then as you may have seen in my other post I was trying to work out how to make and fit some descent size draws. Managed to get that sorted, full DIY custom. Thanks again to those with ideas and thoughts on the matter. Ended up making a aluminium 25mm frame with marine ply. Covered in Clarke Rubber marine ribbed carpet (left over from boat refurb) with front and rear rebated aluminium Douglas tracking.
Also added a led light into the rear roof for beach camping and cooking.
But, then the drag was getting me down with the reduced km/fuel range. So I chucked on a tyre trek tyre carrier with twin cans. Making room underneath for a LRA 110lt tank. Sweet as. All colour coded, powder coated.
But then, too heavy for the Murchison lift out back, and the drive character totally changed. Much more than expected. So have now slotted in airbagman inner coil assist lift bags.
To slow down all that extra weight I have also fitted DBA 4x4 slotted rotors and matching pads.
He now performs, handles, and stops better than ever before.
Pics attached below. Hope these help anyone looking at doing different things. Oh and that number plate. Haha love it.
