Default Double Island and a Ski Rope

After cruising up to Noosa for the weekend we decided to head up North Shore to DI. We jokingly packed a body board and a long ski rope and found yet another use for the TJ.

Next time we think of doing the same we might pack a wake board and another length of ski rope for a better run. Might even try to organise a trip for anyone up for some fun.

Done it with a Wake Skate, Wakeboard would be pretty boring... with no wake and all.

When we were kids (Teenagers in NZed) we used to waterski behind Jeeps in the farmers irrigation channels. Was ok, but the fences going across was always a problem.

Dangerous - probably, illegal - most likely, fun - HELL YES!

I made a stand that I wouldn't pay Captain Bligh's new fun tax to go up the North shore anymore, but for that I think I would make an exception!

We tried to not pay but were intercepted by National Parks (prior to getting the ski rope out). The guys said they had issued 151 warnings (1 warning per car or group of cars) prior to intercepting us at about 1:30pm. Sounds like they had issued a number of $150 fines as well.

We told them that we had heard a rumour that things were coming in late this year but advised that we hadn't seen the signs (as we hadn't). We had to pay the $10 per vehicle that night over the internet so as to not receive a fine. I wouldn't risk the fine of $150 to stuff Bligh's coffers so will probably pay the $10 in future. If I hadn't been caught and received a warning I would probably just try and avoid the guys (if you are not camping that is) until receiving a warning.

I was thinking about organising a trip but might just wait for now as the wife and I will be joining the Sunshine Coast Jeep Club shortly and I'm sure they will be organising trips up that way. Superchicken and Sonjap conviced us on Friday night to join up, so I'll shoot you a PM later Roger to try and get the ball rolling.

CheSter we did consider if it was illegal but as we were not in the main line of sight of everyone and things were fairly quite we were not to worried. We weren't being stupid about things and hadn't been drinking so I'm sure the police would probably have dismissed it has a bit of fun.

Darius love the fences comment.

Kimmeh - we will have to catch up sometime. Haven't seen you since that course.
