Default Are fires still a problem beyond MY12?

I have been seeing some videos lately of JKs combusting between MY07 to MY12.

They were said to have started from hot cat converters coming into contact with vegetation, lack of tranny coolers and overheated tranny oil, ruptured oil lines, possibly leaking air-con gas, and badly done electrical mods.

I understand that FCA addressed the skid plate issue, and brake oil line rubbing. Has anyone seen or heard anything about continuing problems specifically with the JK beyond MY12?

I understand that other cars from other makers have also had issues of fire risk of some description or other.

I avoided my 13JKUR burning to the ground by pulling out dried grass that was smouldering and about to catch fire on the exhaust about 4 years ago with my 5yo in the backseat.

All cars can be a risk of burning to the ground if they have a hot exhaust and have been driving through long dry grass.

Other than this I've not heard of any 12+ having consistent issues.

Thanks for that. My MY16 JKU is unlikely to go off road for a while as I use my XJ for that. But it is good to know that the spontaneous combustions are no longer a common issue.

Granted, any car can ignite tall grass so it is always good to do some checking for trapped grass and vegetation under the car.

Ford Rangers had this issue in recent times, but apart from the underside plates, it is common sense to avoid trouble wherever possible or clear debris immediately.

I generally only garage the cars when they are cold. They remain parked outside if they have been anywhere.
