Default Jk 2 door hard top hoist

Ok it has come to the time where i now have the space and roof height to finally build a hoist for the hard top and after some ideas.

I have a low pitch (bout 11 degree) roof in the shed thats good and high (2.7m to the gutters so about 3.5 to the centre of ceiling). The roof is tun so has good solid battens about 20cm either side of the peak and the next approx 90cm further away from centre either side. So looking at running 4 bits of framing timber (70x35mm) each across 2 battens fron the centre of the roof out giving a good solid mount for each of the 4 points for the hoist.

Thinking of running a web strap under the hard top from front to back, one each side exiting the back above the rear window on the outer edge of the hinge. Will this put too much stress on the glass with the window closed or will i need to have the window open?

Will run the ropes through a pully above each corner then across to a 4 way pulley then join all 4 to one and then across to a single pulley at the wall to come down the wall to a hand winch.

Thoughts?

That's exactly how I did it! Got the better half to make some slings on the seeing machine. You will need to leave to back window open and most
Importantly buy a brake winch (from a hoist supplier like pacific hoists etc.) as this allows lid to be raised and lowered. Most cheap winches can only winch one way and lowering lid carefully isn't possible. Once lid is lifted and car is out I support it with a couple of pieces of wood with eyelets and chain to take to load off the winch. Then I park the wife's car nose first under it! Plenty of room to spare. Good luck with it.

Although mines a TJ this is how I did it (excuse the poor quality picture)

2 sets of ratchet straps and 4 hooks holds it nice and secure.

I leave the door open just in case.

......and when you are not using it to store your hard top, you can use them for storing other stuff.
