Default Camper Trailer

Hi all,

I'm going to by a camper trailer and i was hoping a few of you out there may be able to give me a bit of advise or tell me what sort of trailer you have. I've checked the web and have found a few but i thought somebody with a jeep, in particular a JK might have found a good manufacturer who has made one light, stong, secure and with compatible hubs to suit the JK stud pattern (5x5). If worse comes to worse i can get blank hubs and drill them myself but i just thought i'd throw it out to you AJOR's first. Cheers.

I bought my camper top and trailor seperatly. When i ordered the trailor i just ordered the hubs in the pattern to suit my model (TJ) and it worked out well.

cheers

the biggest problem matching hubs to the JK stud pattern is the centre bore. You will have to get your wheels drilled to suit as all the hubs i have seen are to large to fit. this cost around $25-$50 per wheel depending on where you go. I am unsure if any of the aftermarket wheels have a larger centre that might make it a little easier.

As above - I have a little trailer with matching wheels but had to get the centre machined out to fit the hubs.

With the Trak Shak camper, I didn't bother and have been all through the Red Centre, Vic High Country, Flinders many times, and never had a puncture.

I know it's good to have matching wheels for spares but buy good tyres, have a tyre pressure monitoring system (I have the Tyredog system), reduce your pressure on dirt roads etc, and you should be ok.

mate in the medium price range the Cavalier cmper is hatd to beat, and in the upper price range the Kimberley Camper is probably the best. there are others if you want to spend 60 grand, but those two are quality and offer a variety of options and prices in each brand. a choice of wheels is available in both brands. cheers. (i currently have a cavalier, but would love to upgrade to a kimberly at some alter date, they are awesome)

I've just gone for an Oztrail top on a Custom made trailer heavy duty trailer and am stoked with it. I've still got to swap the slipper leaves out for a full spring/shackle/shock setup but fully loaded i havn't had a single issue towing it down the beach or around dunes.
