Default Strange Overheating

OK Overheating discussion again but with a change.

On sunday went through heaps of mud, mass overheating on way home, so today did a service, oil and oil filter change, front cowling off and fully cleaned out radiator fins, flushed radiator, new collant in it, cleaned air filter etc.

now went for a drive, seemed ok, was staying at 90 so i put aitcon on, went to 110 and though thats fine, kept driving then suddenly the "check gauges" light comes on and its at full heat.

pull over and turn air con off and wait about 1 min and temp goes back to 100 and i drive away, no more aircon and its been fine with that.

so what the hells going wrong?

if you think its the thermo, please take digi pic for me.

help

JB, how did you clean out the fins on the radiator? You know I had this problem and the only way I got it to run at the correct operating temp was to remove the radiator, seperate all three coolers (radiator, oil cooler and A/C condensor) and with care use high pressure water. The amount of black crap that came out was unreal.

Do a test on the thermo, you know pot on the stove, thermo in the water, measure the temp as you bring to the boil and see when she opens. Or just get a new one.

Let me know if you need a hand.

jimmy b what type of mud was it ? did it have a high clay content?
had aproblem a few years back
in a buggie the mud left a fine film on the radiator that was a refractory type film
it kept the heat in the radiator had to clean it with ct18 and a soft brush and heaps of water

Less than $20 mate. I got one from the local AutoOne. If you are going to change the thermo, do a good clean between the coolers as well.

is just over 100 still normal - what is normal with these trucks?
