Park brake for lifted XJs
Like many of you I have park brake cables that are already at capacity without the car flexing at all. So much so I suspect that my rear lock ups are caused by the park brake when the nose of the car dives as the cable tightens. Anyway after a bit of head scratching I came across this site and seems like a pretty good idea(uses stock Jeep parts).

The cables are about 15 bucks each from Rock Auto so I think I might give it a shot as then I'll finally be able to have a park brake that works and one that doesnt come on at random! Anyone else given this a shot?

Hey Windex, I'm in exactly the same boat at the moment and soon to buy some cables from Rockauto. The only thing I'm having trouble with is finding the 8mm connector - hardware stores dont seem to carry them... You have any plans for this?

Saw long connector nuts at Bunnings [Ashfield, Sydney] last time I was there. Near the High tensile/specialty bits. I'm sure they would have in Melbourne. If not try somewhere like Coventry's.

Cheers whollsee, I've seen them at Bunnings too but had it in my head that they were only imperial... guess I'll drop by soon and check!

That is interesting, even on mine which is only mildly lifted the handbrake cables are tight....

As an update, I've ordered a pair of YJ passenger-side hand brake cables from Rockauto and I'll let you folks know how I go with it!
