Default 3.0 crd

I have only had my GC for a few weeks and so far am quite happy but was wondering what kind of economy I should be getting. Mostly my driving is to work mostly in 50 zones with a lot of stop start driving. I am only getting about 13lt/100km. is this the norm. I did a trip to Sydney on the expressway and got 11 but this still seemed a little high?

I have a 2008 CRD and consistently get 10.3 on trips and 10.8 around town, but I do not have a heavy foot and even my around town trips are mostly in 60, 70 and 80 km/hr zones.

My best easy advice is to make sure that the air filter is clean, but with constant stop/starting in 50 km/hr zones you would probably not see better than 11.5 or 12.0 anyway.

I put a new air filter in it a couple of weeks ago. I am going to disconnect the battery and check/clean the computer then get a service to see if that makes a difference.

That's about right with mine. 110km/h uses more than 100km/h - probably about 0.5l/100 km. Also, it uses a lot more when cold I found, so if you don't drive long enough to really warm the engine, your economy will be higher.

It takes me only about 10 minutes to get to work, and the driving is generally around 60km/h or less, so mine uses a fair bit more per 100km than if I drove for say 30 minutes each way.

I've thought about buying a chip or a reprogram, but the cost takes a long time to recoup (about 50,000 kms), and power isn't an issue with a 3.0 CRD. On top of that, there is the potential risk of damage by running higher PSI. I know that WH's aren't under warranty anymore, but chips void them, which means that manufacturers think they must cause a risk. I know one person on here who blew up a motor - not definite the chip was the cause, but he had one, and I haven't heard of any others blowing up that don't run a chip.

I know someone who chipped his WH and and 12 months later his engine blew, whether the chip contributed is not know. I thought about chipping the engine on my WH but decided to open up the exhaust and replace the air filter with a K&N there are definite gains in power and economy without chipping.
