Default Mopar rack lost 'key'

Dad dropped the 'key' he calls it to take the roof bars off and on. They are the Mopar ones so now they are stuck on there. Dealer said was not available as a separate purchase. The head it fits over looks like an 8 pointed bolt. Anyone ever had to take some off without ruining the bars?
Sockets are usually 6 or 12 point so would have to be something else. Has to really thin walled too by the looks of it.

Fortunately he found the spare finally today but wanted still to replace the lost one. The dealer emailed the fitting instructions and it said to record the key number. So I gave this to the dealer and they still said there was no way to get a spare and to see a locksmith instead. They don't make plastic socket tools.
Thanks for the suggestion though and will look into that if need be.

Now there is a thought! Do they use plastics stronger enough to do the job?
