Default Steering Pulls to Left

Hi all,

My Cherokee slightly, only just slightly pulls to the left. I took it to the dealership > they tell me it's a safety feature so that I don't run into on coming traffic if I fall asleep at the wheel.

Are they pulling my leg??? Does your Jeep slightly pull to the left?

Now you mention it, I've had this problem since I got the Jeep over 3 years ago. I think the reason they gave when it was mentioned to them at it's 1000km service was very similar - bottom line they couldn't fix it.

After almost 120,000kms I've learned to live with it....

No, its a crock of shite.

It's most likely a wheel alignment issue that they dont want to, or dont know how to fix.

However, when you say pulls to the left, do you mean on the average road with a few degrees camber to the left? or a perfectly flat section like the middle lane of a 3 lane wide straight stretch of highway. Does it pull to the right if you get onto a section of road that leans to the right? Most vehicles will follow the slope of the road.

I would ask for a copy of the full wheel alignment report, with all results for front and rear. I bet they dont have a copy of it as they probably never did one.

Are you guys serious? Mine has pulled left and right when the alignment is out, but usually tracks straight after an alignment. How good would this "safety feature" be in the US.

If you believe that its a safety feature then I have this nice block of land on the moon I would like to sell you, or maybe you would be interested in a block on Mars. I could also sell you a unicorn or a drop bear if you are interested.
If the jeep is under warranty best you go back & tell them that ACA are interested in doing a story on them.

Pumba when was the last time it was aligned? When we installed the kit? Then she's probably overdue for a check up alignment.
Also if you're running the stock tyres and wheels 18's then when theywear down a bit they'll start to track alot more. Has it been more than say 15,000klm since the last alignment? If so Id get it done again asap.

Cheers Stu

Seems like every single problem those dealer cannot solve turned out to their safety feature.

Yes, you need a wheel alignment.

I noticed my front tires were almost worn out only on the outer side and I have to steer like 5 degrees to keep the car drive straight.

Well, mechanic guy told me that some SUVs may experience this kind of issue due to the unbalanced weight on the car. I don't really buy it but it's definitely better than telling it's a safety feature that keeps you awake while driving a long straight line.
