Default JK Diesel diff ratio

Howdy,

A friend is looking at lockers for his Diesel JK but a VIN check returns a diff ratio of 4.1 instead of the expected 3.73. Apart from being diesel it is a stock 2dr non-rubicon JK

Can anyone confirm this is the case for the diesel version?

Cheers

You will need to be more specific What year/Month of Build Auto or Manual as they have a number of diff ratios fitted over year model changes which makes it fun.
They also changed Wheels 16" to 17" and Tyre sizes over the years and on the same rim different tyre sizes ie 17":- 245 75R17 to 255 75R17 and now back to 245 75R17 There was even talk of different 17" Rims 7.5' wide and 8' Wide.

To be honest the easiest way would be to work backwards with the things we do know.

ie, what RPM is he doing at 100km/hr in 6th gear and what size tyres are on it. From that, we can work backwards as we know the gearbox and transfer case ratios

Default Diff Ratio's

It is rumored that the early 2007 models shipped with 4.1's?

Jip, have 4.1 ratios in my jku diesel. you apparently have to get the 3.73 and down version of the rear locker though due to the thicker ring gear.

I've been looking at lockers/ratios as well. IK am puzzled by differing spline counts for the same diff (ie D44 30 spline or 27 spline axles). Anyone know what the standard is?

His is a 2008 auto. I think easiest thing will be to jack it up, put in neutral and spin teh tyre whilst counting the axle rotations
