Default TJ: 2003 Suspension Lift

Hey guys,

I currently own a 2003 TJ wrangler and am really interested in slowly and properly building it up. The cars in great condition as I bought it of the folks and they have almost never taken it offroad.

I'm looking to get a 4 inch lift, but wondering if this is too large, as I do 20% offroad work and 80% on road work. Would I need to modify other components of the drive train and or suspension, and would this end up being too costly?

I will probably also go for 32's of 33's tyres (All terrains, as I wouldn't need muddies).

I'm from WA, so does anyone know someone I could contact to get more information on this size of lift and roughly how much it would cost and install? Of is it possible to install most of the suspension components myself and how hard would it be?

Appreciate the feedback guys!

Go long arm 4" straight away. Cost is high but you'll get the best out of the car and the ride will be good. I have 4.5" on my short arms and ride is terrible, I'm thinking of goin back down to 2.5-3".
You need to do a fair bit of work for that size lift though. Look through the build threads this gets covered almost weekly at the moment

X 2 with kenny

i have a 4" long with a 1 " body and it drives better than stock.

its probably more than double the cost, but so worth it.
You will need to cut off the old brackets and weld some new ones on...

i have a teraflex long arm kit, with 4 link rear. dropped front track bar from black jack welding and rancho adjustables.

about to put in 5" springs...

Maybe this is me just being conservative, but isn't 4 inches a little extreme and costly given most of the time you're gonna be on the black stuff?

Unless you've got the money or if you really like the look...

I mean you'd probably be better off spending the money on getting a really good 2-2.5 inch set up
