Default JK Radio Static

Just recently I am developing an ignition style radio static reminiscent of the good old points days.

Except for an odd traight...

As I accelerate and then cruise and then back off slightly I get the annoying static through FM and UHF CB that follows the engine speed. BUT... If I back off completely (as in remove foot from accelerator) after another second or so the static stops completely amd only returns when I put my foot on the accelerator again.

I automatically assumed I must have had a lead arcing out to earth or something but why would it stop 1 to 2 seconds after backing off?

Going to start checking for bad earths, check spark plug leads in the dark and swap the OEM radio back as well just to make sure. No noticeable loss of power, no noticeable change in economy and no error codes.

Any other thoughts or similar experience? I should add that I dont remember this noise when my leads were breaking down last time (were replaced at 48k as were arcing to manifold - now at 116k)

Purely to rule it out - you haven't recently started to use a cheap Chinese "bullet" type charger? That did it for me!

Na no other changes to anything! I do have a cheap chinese cig charger but only use it once every couple of months (and not for a while).

Just has me beat that it stops when I step off the accelerator!

Sounds like you may be getting alternator noise. This is common with aftermarket stereos. Especially when people get lazy and run all the wiring, RCA etc in one bundle along the factory wiring loom.

Have you recently changed your stereo setup or added a new power cable to your car?

Problem is nothing has changed!

Running a non nav MyGIG RB2 stereo from a 2012 GC, installed in 2012, with no change to lighting for the last 2 years. The last power items change was installing a 6BS cable to the rear with Anderson plug and a (removable) trailer brake controller, both about a year ago.

This is why I am a little stumped at the moment! Haven't had a chance to test anything yet due to work, but I do still have the OEM six stacker stereo to try first.

Also still unsure why the noise stops when you back off the accelerator (even at high revs)?

Will definitely feed back when I work out what the hell it is though.

You Have to try and find the source by isolating things.
Pull the fuse on CB and see if that makes a difference.
Disconnect Anderson plug at battery and see if that helps.
Then pull the fuse on the CD player. If your cb is good you know to look at your stereo.
Try swapping back to the original Headunit. If no change could be your wiring or Infinity Amp.
