Default Radiator leak

Hi guy's

Been searching the forums about KJ's with radiator leaks' and as I have a small leak in mine I was wondering if anyone has tried "Silver Seal" ?
The leak is in the front of the tank directly in front of the top hose connection point on the tank.
Seems to be a common problem ?

Is the leak in the metal tubing or where the plastic and metal meet?

A radiator shop could probably fix it up pretty quickly. I don't think much of these sealing products because they will leak again when your in the middle of nowhere.

I have used a product called Metal Sealup with great success on a leaking headgasket on a Subaru Forester. Head gasket was leaking compression into the cooling system and boiling the water out of it. Put it in at around 245,000km and sold it still going strong at 336,000km.

If you do use something like that make sure to follow the instructions very carefully. I know with the Metal Sealup it will react with the Glycol in the antifreeze, so you have to drain the system completely, then flush it a few times with plain water to make sure its all gone. Fill it back up with fresh water, put the stuff in, drive for half an hour or so then from memory I think you flush it again and fill with fresh water. Then flush it again the next day and fill back up with normal coolant.

Hi glend
There's a tiny hole in the plastic tank and at the moment coolant is only just weeping out.
It's not where the radiator core and the tank join, it's more on the outer edge "corner" of the tank.
I'd rather find some way of repairing the hole without putting any sort of stop leak in.
I'm thinking that there must be some type of glue that could be used ?

If you plan on keeping the car for some time then a new radiator is a reasonably cheap option if you source and fit it yourself. Shouldn't give you any dramas then for years to come.

You could run a hot soldering iron over it. or get a new radiator. Radiator shops won't repair that or change the side tank. i just brought a new one off autorock.com and fitted myself. its a pain in the arse if you have a ARB bar. Thats if you don't take it off
