Default JK aftermarket front seats with airbags

Hi all

I don't rate the stock seats in the front of my 2013 JKU Sport and would consider changing them out for something deeper and wider. But I wouldn't make the change if it meant giving up front side impact airbags. I couldn't find anything online. Anyone out there who can help?

Cheers
Anthony

Are the Sport and Rubi seats the same in the 2012+ models?? Just a thought.

WK (2) from 2011 have side airbags in the seats, may be an option if you can find them.
Getting the original seats re-done by a good upholsterer would be the safest way to go, no ADR issues.

Yes there are the Rubicon or Overland seats. I don't know if they would suit me either, but assuming that they did, where can you buy that sort of thing? Due to the airbags, I want to buy brand new for certainty.

I would be careful replacing seats with seats that have airbags from different model vehicles, as all airbags have a specifically tuned detonation and inflation time. In my years working in a crash test facility (the company designed and manufacture restraint systems for cars all over the world). I would be rather apprehensive about messing with them, as incorrectly times airbags can contribute to worse injuries in an accident.

Fully agree with Crashman , the cost alone would turn most people off , but the safety issues would far outway the swap , id go see a first class upholsterer they will be able to reshape the base and sidewings and not compromise the deployment of the air bags

Ok thanks guys. Now officially being thrown on the back-burner. I wouldn't sacrifice safety for anything else.

Surprising that the stock seats aren't bigger given the size of the average American. I'm only 5'9'' 80kg and still think they aren't big enough on the seat. Backrest is ok.

Cheers.
