Hi Chocco.
Don't think you'll find too many towing up at that limit, as you wouldn't be able to carry much load in the Jeep!
Remember your ball weight comes out of the payload and the GVM of the Jeep is 2949. The GCM is 6449kg. The Jeep Tare is 2200kg odd, so it's under 700kg of payload.
You've got to count passengers, spare wheels, roof racks, bullbars, cargo, etc - if you were to tow a van near the 3.5 tonne limit, it would severely limit your payload!
Have a read of this:
https://practicalmotoring.com.au/car...kg-tow-rating/
We tow a loaded van of up to 2700kg. (Was 2620kg on the weighbridge recently, but the last trip would have been about 2700kg).
The Jeep GC does it easlily. So much power - we can overtake slower rigs and vehicles.
Fuel econ was 16.8lph on this trip, travelling at 95-100kph, which is great.
Personally I like to have a "bit spare" in the towing specs of a vehicle, not load it up to the max.
If I were towing 3500kg I'd get a Chevvy or something similar.
But anything up to about 3100kg, the Jeep GC is awsome!
Although this is just my personal opinion, I'm sure someone will be towing over 3 tonne (and light on in the car) and will give you some feedback. We carry too much payload in the Jeep to ever do so!
Cheers,
Sally
