Default WH Grand Cherokee questions

I am not a Jeep owner but intend becoming one soon, mainly because of the Mercedes OM642 diesel engine that the Grand Cherokees use.

I have a couple of questions that have not been able to answer with Dr Google.

1. Do the OM642 engines (3L V6 diesel) have a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)? From what I can see the requirements for this vary from country to country but I've never been able to pin it down for Aust. I think the early ones don't (2005/6) but they came in at some stage. Does anyone know the story here. I know what they look like and where to find them, but if someone knew the answer of the top of their head it would save me some time.

2. What's the difference between the Limited and Laredo for the 2005-7 models? In particular, did they both run the Quadra Drive 2 4WD system? If I was looking at a Jeep, how would I know if it was QD2? Is it written on the car somewhere?

Thanks in Advance

I have a 2007 Australian plated WH CRD. They came with Quadra Drive 2 and as far as I know did not have a DPF.
Cheers

All diesel Grands came with QuadraDrive until the 2008 update (was released some time in 2007) the easiest way to tell the difference is the new headlight design & fog light location. The DPF came in with the update model as well.

QDII was still available as an option so there are 2008 & up with QDII.

Look at the rear Diff cover to identify QuadraDrive II

2 bolts at the bottom is QDII

1 bolt at the bottom is QTII

There was also this badge on the console but as these thing are getting old & I wouldn't accept this as proof, console could have been changed out.

Look at this site for trim & spec levels (not 100% accurate but gives you an idea)
