Default Control Arm Replacement or the Bushes

........ Greetings all I am thinking about doing the control arm bushes a big job for me I think I might pass it on to the local mechanic $$$$ Spoke to him a while back about the job He really didn't want to remove and press bushes and said get the whole arm I suppose it would be easies and cheaper $$$
How Difficult is it to do yourself with a trolley jack and 2 car stands also the control arms I looked at were on ebay for around $150 a pair would suit my budget Quality ? I don't push the XJ Hard so the ebay set for around $500 I suppose front and rear.......................... rear looks the easiest to do myself

Easy enough to change the arms yourself with stands and trolley jack. Have a look at gojeeps web site for the trick to push the diff forward with the factory jack and bits of timber to line up the bolt holes. http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoREdropbrackets2.htm

Poly urethane bushes can be a good option.

You can burn out the old rubber from the existing shell, clean and paint the shell and push the new buses in with a vice or quick clamp. Yes they are not cheap but they do last and they don't firm the ride up substantially if at all.

Loads of people will have negative views on these bushes, in my experience they are based on hearsay and not fact or real experience.

I've had really good success with and currently use SuperPro bushes in my WJ.

( $150 a pair?? Sounds pretty expensive, even if it's for all 4.
I paid about $40-50 excl ship via Rockauto for either upper of lower pair, can't recall, still need to put them in)

You could get a pair of wj lower arms from 4x4point for around $140 plus post. A little bit of work to modify them to fit, well worth I thought. Someone who's name I've forgotten had a really good write up with pics on here a couple of yrs ago. He might chime in, or someone with a good memory might remember who it was. Probably 2 beer job.

The aren't cheap, but they are good in my experience.

The good thing is you don't need a press or other tools to push them in, that offsets the cost of the bushes.
