I didn't buy a Jeep!
G'day everyone,
first up thanks to everyone who answered my (perhaps stupid) questions already.
I'm a newby to the 4wd world. Prior to this i had a string of hi po performance cars. Then i moved to Narrabri (NW NSW - near Tamworth) and decided a 4wd was going to be necessary. Plus I've always been into shooting and camping and stuff.
After searching for quite some time I was almost going to buy a D22 Navara turbo diesel. It just so happened that my grandparents found out i was looking for a 4wd. Old grandma said 'Pop is thinking of giving you the Jeep for xmas'. What immediatly came to mind was 'oh shit that old thing'. I'd done many a school holiday trip in that Jeep. It was a 94 Cherokee sport, they bought brand new. I was always stuck in the back, pop never went over 80km/h, and they would never turn the air con up enough so it got to the back. Without wanting to sound like an ungreatful brat I said "Im jus going to look at another one but if it doesn't turn out I'll let you know.
Long story short the D22 didn't work out. I decided a free Jeep would be alright, no matter how bad the condition. Turns out it was in really good condition. On the surface it looked great. I also had low (for the age) km - only 140K.
I've owned it for just over 1 year now, and its already taken me on some awesome adventures. Looking forward to a lot more with this old girl.

You never knock back a free vehicle LOL
My Step son got his licence and was driving my wife's Corolla around for a while. This was all good until his best mate bought a Falcon and suddenly the Corolla wasn't cool enough for him.
He went and bought a VE Commodore, so my wife and I sold the Corolla for $3000 to a work mate of mine for his daughter.
Anyway, the Commodore has proved to be the biggest heap of shit on the road. He has ended up spending thousands on it due to several breakdowns and constant issues.
He paid $15K for it 2-3 years ago and just got $1500 trade in on a new Mazda 2 GT.
And the Corolla? It's still going strong and still hasn't had any problems.

Yeah, but a male teenager in Corolla is not on. Civic may be, but not Corolla.... I have a teenage son, we've been through this recently.

I totally agree, but I'd rather a Corolla than a Mazda 2
I know one thing for sure, he'll never buy another Holden.
