Default May have to sell my KJ

A few weeks ago I bought a new car, well new to me, it's a three year old car that is still under a five year warranty with only 25,000kms on it. My kids had been bugging me to sell the KJ and get something more practical for a 70 yo gent, easier to get in and out of, etc. Initially i thought i would keep the KJ as my capable 4x4, my tow vehicle and the one I grab if I have to run from a bushfire, and they both fit in the shed. Dropping back to third-party insurance and with free NSW pensioner rego it would be costing me next to nothing. Now though, after the first 35 degree day, i find out that my lounge room AC system doesn't actually cool anymore, so I am thinking it might be time to hand the KJ to someone else that would appreciate all the work that has gone into it over the last 12+ years.
I maybe putting it on Carsales in the near future, but thought I would mention it here first. Many of you know alot about it's history, through all my modification and service threads here on AJOR. I believe it is pretty unique, and maybe the best KJ CRD in Australia, with only 149,000kms on it. If you think you might be able to give it a home, let me know via PM here.

You may need to suggest what sort of price Glend. There will always be bargain hunters out.

Sure Layback, I realise that. I will put an ad up in the AJOR For Sale sub-forum in due course and that will include a price. It will probably be around the Redbook value.

Some one is going to get a bargain! Should be red book + % of cost of mods.
In the current climate who knows what it will sell for. Wreckers want $2.5k for a good engine yet you can buy a good KJ for that.
Just remember you can always come down but never go up!
Good Luck.

That is a real shame Glend. I'm 66 myself and have had mine since 2006. I've followed your threads and found your advice to be very helpful. I intend to keep mine for as long as possible. We've just got back from a trip to Vienna via a week in Bavaria - just under 2k miles, and the KJ was brilliant as usual carrying a load of Frankish wines and German and Austrian beers and food treats, as well as my wife and I in comfort.

I'm cr*p at getting in and out of ordinary cars so the extra height of the KJ (with OME lift) is perfect for me. The greater visibility of the height is valuable too - especially in foreign cities where the road layout may be strange and they all drive on the wrong side of the road!

Out of curiosity, what's the other car?

Just a quick update: I still have the KJ. As a utility vehicle it can do lots of things the new car can not do, like take things to the tip, and tow things.
So for now I have two vehicles.
