Default 2005 CRD engine rocking in idle

Hey all, was hoping someone might know what’s going on but I have a 2005 3.0 CRD and when in idle the engine is rocking a fair bit, goes away when I press the accelerator but if I give it a little bit I notice the is some black smoke not a lot just enough to notice hasn’t lost any power but yeh really concerning. I haven’t driven it since the issue started. Wondering if anyone has had something similar I am hoping it’s not the injectors spraying unevenly but any suggestions That aren’t gonna cost an arm and a leg would be great. Also heard could be an air intake issue? I am new to jeeps especially diesels.

Running rough & a bit of smoke under acceleration -- Injectors.

How many km?

It’s roughly 230,000 ish if I remember correctly, all of a sudden happened when I was towing a trailer up a hill then when got to set of lights the rocking started. Yeh that’s what a few ppl have said, do you know if a scanner would pick that sort of issue up my father in-law has one I can use. I’m new to the central coast and still trying to find a decent mechanic so having an idea at would I’m looking at will be beneficial.

Not all scanners work on these jeeps.
Get yourself the Jscan or Bluedriver app to read the codes.

Thanks mate will hopefully have the scanner tomorrow, I’ll try those apps and let you know how I go. Also have a question a bloke came and looked at me Jeep today I think kicking tires on whether to buy it but I have whit smoke coming from the exhaust, iv read it’s just I burnt fuel but he said it’s oil getting in somewhere, heat even said it had blue tinge but I swear it’s white. Is the bloke trying to just get a cheaper deal? (If I was to sell it, which I’ve decided not to)

These jeeps are not known for burning oil but anything is possible.

Put a bottle of injector cleaner in the fuel & take it for a good run (Italian Tune). See if that fixes it.
You may have some bad fuel.
When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
Injectors dont normally just go bad all of a sudden, its a gradual process.
Crap in the fuel can cause a sudden issue.
