Finding stock is the issue - I believe that direct orders of the crate engine were suspended for one reason or another.

Another issue being the US version of the 'true' Eco-diesel is different to the export version.

Aus Jeep dealers hold the key to the kingdom unfortunately, and I believe most quote around $20k for a new engine

I think you're right actually.

I believe supply is still a massive issue though - have seen people with a GC off the road for 14mo waiting for a new engine

I was quoted $20k when my Jeep died...not sure whether that was tow in drive out though...

I had also heard a crate engine out of Melbourne was $12k, though again supply was the issue.

Now that Jeep don't offer the VM Diesel as an option on JGC, maybe the supply chain will loosen up a bit? Be very ordinary if Stellantis still held supply of new engines at bay when they don't even offer it as an option on the model!

Be even better if we could buy spares for the thing...such as oversize bearings, pistons, rings etc...
