Default XJ Suspension

I know that I may opening up a Pandora's box, but can someone tell me if an XJ's stock suspension is prone to sag.

Reason is, I parked next to another XJ and my ride seemed to be a bit higher. Checked the ground and it looked level, so is there any news on this.

And is the camber on the XJ recalibrated when sold in OZ.

Hi,

XJ Cherokees came in two factory ride heights in AUS.

stock height for limited models and some others,
Mots had what US call "UP-Country" suspension which is something like 25mm higher.

Many people fit OME springs for approx 50mm higher ride.

Short answer, all springs sag, even my Holden rides lower than new.

Default XJ Suspension

when i originally fitted my 4.5" lift it measured very close to 4.5". now, nearly 12 mths later and much punishment offroad it has settled and now rides about the 3.8" mark approx.

thats sag for ya. low sag whenyou lower a car, but when you lift it you would like it to stay up, but unfortunately it does settle :(

The stock springs can be sagged before they leave the show room floor. In fact if you measure yours with a empty tank and then with a full one there will be a noticable difference!
I run two add-a-leafs and a 1/2" spacer in the rear and after 3 years and towing a trailer around Australia I have less than a 1/4" difference from when I first installed them to give me 4 1/2" of lift. :D

Thanks GoJeep...

I am going to Suburban 4wd next week to speak to the guys there on suspension mods. Maybe the stage one set that they have...

I did have a full tank when I parked next to the Jeep coz I was going up the mountains that day. I will measure it.

By the way awsum w/site u have...

Just a question, was it hard to install the "rear bar" that is on the XJ...

I like the effect it has...

Did u go thru any legal requirements to do that?
