Default Different Interiors??

I was hoping that soneone could clear up something for me. I've been having a look around at Jeep Cherokees on the second hand market and notices something strange. After the late 1997 update it appears that Cherokees came out with some differences in the interior (mainly the steering wheel). I was hoping that someone could elaborate on what the differences are.

Both are Sports models and I have to admit that I prefer the second steering wheel.

top ose is more the eariler model TJ ones.
the bottom one could be the very late model, with (looks like) crusier control & maybe stereo control on the back.

Emo,

I can only see one pic and that is a post '97 XJ with the new dash, more rounded details and cupholders in the centre console. Door window switches are also in moulded pods of the door handles. I think these models also all came with passenger airbag as standard...mine did anyway.

The pre '97 model had a sharper edged interior and exterior, flat panels on the doors for window switches, no console cupholders, as well as a fibreglass tailgate and front rocker panel.

Hope that helps...BTW my 99 XJ is For Sale! See the For Sale Forum here...

Here are better pick of the second type of interior I'm talking about.

Compared to

They are definitely all XJ Cherokees that are post 1997 update. Perhaps Jeep changed the steering wheel again after a particular date.

XJBlackie, I looked adoringly at your 99 Sports and if I had the cash I would seriously love to get into something like that but unfortunately my budget is going to be around $15k- $20k. Now if you would be prepared to look at taking $20k I would be more that happy to talk to you about taking it off your hands. That is one seriously nice Cherokee.

Nup, the sport didn't come with cruise as standard, mine is a 2000 sport and has the same wheel as the one with cruise control but no cruise buttons.

Cheers

Emo,

OK, the top pic is the same as my '99 Sport. Only difference in the second pic is the steering wheel and what looks like narrow door pockets which aren't on my '99. I suppose the second pic may be an earlier update model or another market import? It does look like a Wrangler wheel...

Re purchse, who needs cash? Banks have got plenty of that! Trouble is that you WILL spend another 10-15K plus on building it once you've bought it! Trust me and everyone else here...right guys?

JEEP...Just Empty Every Pocket!

Once bitten by the Jeep Thing, there's no going back, there will always be something else that needs doing to make it just that LITTLE bit better!

Me? Well, I've done most of the work for you already....about $25K's worth!

Good luck!
