Default Brake Warning Light

Brake warning light came on yesterday [the one in the owner's manual that I remember thinking "I hope I never see that light while I'm driving!"] Well the thing is I have recently had a brake check and adjust and nothing to report from the mechanic at that stage. I have now checked all lines and there also doesn't seem to be any leaage at wheel cylinders or line connectors, fluid level is fine in master cylinder. Brakes don't feel spongey and stops as well as ever..for a CJ. I cleaned around the electrical connector on the combination valve and the light went out but came on again 3 minutes later down the road. Only other thing I can think of to check is for shorting at light. Have had weird light stuff before from leaking after heavy rain but being the brake system I got to get to the bottom of it. Will head to my mechanic but just want to check if anyone here has had issues with the valve playing up/sticking or the eletrical sytem being at fault rather than the brakes leaking or taking air.

Cheers,

whollsee

Default

Typically this light only really indicates complete loss of fluid/ failure at the prop valve

I would have to check the manual but they are normally earth sending so electrical failure is rare

Have you got a service manual , check if it is in fact earth sending then unplug both ends and check the resistance to earth to look for a short, check the end to end resistance also while your at it
