Question XJ 2000 oil leak

My 2000 XJ diesel drips(sometimes a little run)oil which drips from the back of the motor off the bottom of the bellhousing.
Can this only be the rear main shaft seal that's causeing this problem?
On the GO.JEEP site it shows how to change the seal by dropping the sump on a '97, is it the same for my 2000 model.
Regards:

It could be rear main seal, rocker cover gasket, sump gasket, oil filter, oil filter adapter, oil pressure sender. All of these can leak and end up at the bottom of the bellhousing so try and dig around a bit more and see if you can make it out for sure. And yep, the 2000 rear main seal process is the same as the 97.

Cheers
Steve

Just rechecked, not rocket/sump gasket, all dry, not around oil filter, all dry.
don't know where to start looking for oil pressure sender!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had recent head job done because corroded welsh plugs(diesel), so top of motor clean as.
Cheers

Oil pressure sensor sits just above the oil filter. It's about 3-4" long, cylindrical and will have cables coming out of the end. It screws in to the filter mount on the block kinda.

Hmmm, diesel, I'm not sure the process for changing the rear main will be the same then as we're now talking a manual and completely different engine.

Cheers
Steve

Could anyone out there tell me if changing the rear main seal in a diesel is the same method as the petrol engine.

Good luck to you John !!! haha I deserve one after the money I spent on my jeep.

Sorry, in all seriousness, am watching with interest as mine has started to do something very similar. I was worried about turbo leakage, but need to get in and have a big old look.
