Vms for iPhone.

Anybody here running the vms navigator for the iPhone or iPad ? Just wondering how good it is and how it works if you have no 3G ? Any help would be awsome.

I have it. Works good but missing some tracks. If you leave the map open it works fine because it works off gps not 3G.

Na it works great with iPhone size anyway. You can zoom right in.

Ok sweet might give it a go on here then. What's it like for the offroad maps ? Easy to use ?

Have a look at the day trip thread in the Victoria section there's a pic there of what it does. If you are ok with technology its easy to figure out though.

Ive got it on my iphone 4 and my old iphone 3g (which is jailbroken and using an external bluetooth gps receiver). Both work great off the cellular network. I found using the iphone 4g and relying on its own gps to be limiting in cloudy conditions but otherwise fine. The jailbroken phone using the external gps is just amazing, it locks on and stays on.

The VMS app itself works great, we used it to track across dunes and scrub without any hassles. Also there is another great app called motionx gps which only costs a few bucks. Its a very comprehensive program, you can download maps (road, terrain or marine) for off cellular network use and can save detailed info about tracks etc and also import tracks off google maps which I have found to be excellent.
