XJ: TD - 2-3 seater.
Hah! bet the 2-3 seater bit got ya interested.
Unfortunately that aspect of my build plan is a fair way down the track.
The idea is to get the XJ settled at 4.5/5" of lift, with a decent kit out, that will sacrifice the backseat in the rear, and able to take on rocks, sand, and highway driving without sending me crazy. Ambitious, I will concede. Patient, I am. Given I work away for 6 out of 8 weeks.
Already done - Tinting, ARB Winch bar, Cut and lifted guards, 31" Hancook MTs, BA front Brake kit, RE Adj LCAs, bit of lift to stop guard rubbing on the streets. Have figured that with the TD and ARB bar I lose about .75" off quoted figures.
Firstly though, is a good suspension build up and some slight cosmetics so it
doesnt look so rubbish.
The plan:
Adj.Panhard.
JKS ACOS
RE 3.5" Coils
RE Adj. UCAs
OME LTs
Rancho Steering damper or Tough Dog RTC
Ext. S/S Brake lines
Custom 4.5" Leaf pack
Blocks 0.5-1"
Cragar Soft8 steel rims.
Closely following this (because I am expecting this to chew up and trash the stock shafts and unis):
Super-Short HD SYE (NP231)
Made-to-order Front & Rear driveshafts
Bushwhacker flares - to avoid a yellow sticker, because the wheels be a protruding.
And to protect the investment:
T&T Chassis Stiffeners
T&T XJ Bellypan
Custom rear bar - kinda like SteveF's, If I turn down the lazy!
Rockrails - depends on time vs cash to either buy JKS Nerfs, or make some myself.
Around that time I would be expecting the axles or diffs to give-in and die...
Replace Front with beefed up D30, locked and 4.56 Ratios
Replace Rear with MJ D44, locked and 4.56s.
Start shopping for 33s.
Assuming I haven't used the above to obliterate myself against a rock, then it comes time to accessorise!
4 rectangular 100W spotlights, mounted above the windscreen
Onboard air
UHF/VHF/HF/Satellite Comms suite.
Solar powered trickle charge
Inverter
Battery bank
Long Range tank
Water storage
plus, plus, plus.
The challenge to fit everything in, preferably below the side windowline, will be interesting.

Oh, it already has AJOR stickers too. Each side and on the ARB Bar
Icom IC400PRO UHF too.
Fire Extinguisher, Kenwood MP3/USB deck.
The Tinting is Tint-A-Car Midnight Express. Real happy with how it has turned out too.
Loose Nut behind wheel, etc.

Ahh yeah. the TD XJ would have them further forward, right?
Sure I could spruik it easily locally (Perth) if it's a no-fit

The last two months it has been neglected, driven about 3 times, while I have been riding my bike instead.
Downgrading the aspirations at the moment, and will probably go about it in a more 'out of the box' way. Although I no longer rely on the XJ to get me around when home, still want to be able to use it while I am home.
