Default eco diesel glow plug

Decided to plug my generic code reader into my 2014
grand cherokee and found it had a glow plug code for cylinder 4.
Car runs perfectly , starts perfectly, no fault lights so im a bit confused as
all seems fine.
Worth worrying about or not?

Most likely an old code. If you didn’t have a check engine light, then there was no active fault at the time.

Code readers will show any reported codes since the last time the system was cleared. This is by design so your dealer/mechanic can see what occurred in the past when trying to troubleshoot at a later date.

You won't always get a check engine light for glow plugs so it could be faulty, glow plugs are not a critical engine component in fact I would describe them as a consumable. Unless you live in a frost prone area most people wouldn't notice one dead glow plug.

i'm in perth and have just had a glow plug replaced . you say it's a consumable but i would disagree . Glow plugs shouldn't be crapping out after 50K .

This is the glow plug error light

i think i may have seen that green light on at odd times but usually not on
Spoke to the local Jeep dealer, they reckon that i shouldnt worry about it as they have never seen any of the eco diesels thus far with glow plug issues so given that not to worry about ut.

The glow plug light is the yellow double-loop to the left of the odometer.
