Default Steering issues

Hi guys I have decided its time to fix the steering issues that have plagued me since I installed my lift. I have nasty bump steer and binding of the steering dampener and steering bar it is attached to.

The important stats are below:
~4 inch lift with the following additions:
  • Lengthened swaybar links
  • Rough country control arm drop brackets
  • Tough dog RTC steering dampener
  • Adjustable Panhard rod

I have been doing a bit of reading to try and understand how it all works in the front end and have used the following two links for a good starting point:
From what I have read there I should be able to get away with the following new items:
I believe that should help bring the angles back closer to their normal range with the added benefit of preventing the binding of the Panhard in the future. Am I missing something or is it this simple?

Just from what I can see, your pitman arm needs to come down quite a way, so that the dampner doesn't bind with the steering rod, and im sure your trackbar end will bind once dropped as well, so a dropper with that as well would be a good idea...

Another option, and I don't know if it can be done without actually seeing it, is to swap the side of the dampner to the underside of the rod, but then it might bind with the track bar, but its hard to tell where items are sitting without seeing it...

After having another look tonight I dont think that the dampener would fit under and even if it did I think it would get guillotined by any suspension movement.

Just make a bracket like mine (in one of those links) to raise the steering damper, mines been on there for a while and works great. Wooders panhard mount will fix the panhard binding but it doesn't drop the panhard. After all that you'd have the same setup as me and I have no bump steer etc and it flexes great.

Cheers
Steve

So you have not done anything to change the angle of the steering arms? I thought I would need to drop both or neither. I would love to DIY it but I am somewhat ham fisted

Nup, I didn't drop either, although it's something I'll look at at some point but right now I have no issues with it so it'll stay as it is.

Cheers
Steve
