Default key problems

Every now and again the key will not turn far enough to let you remove it, is this a common problem, what's the fix.

There is a key lock cable that runs from the transmission selector to the ignition lock, it is there to prevent the car being started in gear. When you have the selector in P it is suppose to move the cable end pin at the ignition so the key can be removed. If it gets stuck you can try to wiggle the selector to free it. Changing that cable is a major pain so keep it working if you can.

Can you adjust that cable, my key is like that most times and it doesn't matter if I push the selector.
