Default Anyone Know a good mechanic in Darwin water pump gone again

G'day all.

We have now arrived in Darwin and not without its issues as a road train overtook us and lost control of the back trailer in the headwind hitting the dirt and sending a rock between the Pioneer platform smashing the rear section of the sun roof, and cracking the drivers side window, good old gaffa tape held her together and my insurance is covering under the windscreen option I took with no excess, Anyways the water pump is leaking again, we had a new one fitted back in Cairns 6 weeks ago, I have rang the bloke and he will cover it under warranty if its the pump, but when ringing around at Darwin no one has done one before and they don't want to try, Does anyone know of a good Mechanic in Darwin that knows Jeeps? as I am not willing to go to Jeep

I hope it wasn't one of Shaws trucks!

I have found often too reluctance among many workshops to open the bonnet on anything but a Toyota or Nissan!
I had a quick look at mechanical repairers in Darwin, dunno if you have tried these, I have no idea if they can assist;

Derri's Mobile mechanical: 0406 783 175
Brian Turner Automotive: 08 8981 9191
AWS Mechanical: 0410 989 053
Northern Diesel & 4wd: 08 8947 1107
Coles Motors: 08 8931 2663

Hope you get it sorted...

Is there a Jeep club in Darwin who you can get in touch with ,they might know of a Jeep mechanic.Or go to a 4x4 operation and ask if they know of anybody.Are you sure that its the water pump,the thermostat housings often leak with coolant running under pump etc.Just remember there are slight differences in the 2011-13 pumps and 14 on.Plus some pumps come with new orings etc some dont ,.It always amazes me how bloody useless some mechanics are.Geez ,these days mechanics can Google how to do it in step by step instructions !

Yes it was a Shaw's truck.

I work for Toll and have never seen reckless like this on the road before. Tough job I know but not at the expense of my family. He didn't even use the two way, just came up the side and could not overtake me so I had to drop 10 klms to let him past. Thanks for the names

I am surprised...I only mentioned Shaws as I do the run to Darwin in triples for Shaws myself from time to time, the drivers I know are usually pretty good.

Though the road isn't great and it does cause that third trailer to move around a fair bit. I am sure it wasn't intentional, but the driver should definitely have been a little more courteous and maybe thought about overtaking where he did...or at least try to communicate.

Like I said I know it's a tough gig and 100% wasn't intended. But if he had got me on the two way we both would of been able to adjust. I was doing 100 as I have a 3.3 tonne van and really needed to conserve some fuel with the head wind. To make it worse after we had gaffered the windows he was on a crib break 30klm up the rd. This just topped it off.

Anyway it didn't shatter in my 2 yo face and we got where we needed to safely.
