Today I was looking to change my oxygen sensor that’s been giving me codes. And while I was stuffing around with it I managed to fix an earth strap that was just hanging and isn’t connected to anything. It’s the big thick silver one that goes from the firewall and assuming it goes to the block as it has a large bolt hole on the other end. Can somebody have a look on theirs and tell me where it goes

Sorry don't have a JK, but on my TJ that strap is connected to the bonnet from that point on the bulkhead, so suspect it's more about RF than carrying amps

I was also going to mention that looked more like a high powered HF radio earth strap than a vehicle engine block earth cable. I'll check mine and post a photo, but mine's a CRD (??).

It’s petrol, be interesting to see if you have it also. It does say Chrysler on it though so assume it’s factory.

Look closely at the picture and you will see it's a twin strap on the firewall. One end goes to the engine.
I believe it's for the engine in an XJ but not sure where it mounts. On the TJ it goes to a stud on one of the cylinder head bolts at the rear of the engine. It's probably better described as a body ground (via the engine) as the main ground cable goes to the engine block (or does on a TJ anyway).
