Default Auto vs Manual

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum and new to wanting a Jeep. I saw the Unlimited Rubicon on the weekend while looking at the commander and now i just have to have one.

Is there any reason (other than convenience) to get the auto over the manual? or vice-versa?

I should have explained that i'm leaning toward manual because;

1. I expect it to be better offroad
2. I expect the 6 speed to rev lower than than the 4 speed when sitting on 100-110

Thanks for the reply.

Having friends back home in brissie that used to compete in 4x4 (both manuals/autos) events i cant really say which is best. They both have their pro's and con's.
I prefer Auto myself after much contemplation. For one, i cant stall it. Ratios take care of the jeep wanting to take itself for a ride down a steep hill. I feel i have more control in an auto over a manual.

It all really depends on what you want to do with your new Jeep when you get it. Good luck in deciding!

Diesel menual is the way to go if you are going off Road, 1) You are in control not the auto 2) try to pull any Auto back to the blacktop and you most likly demaged the auto (autos don't like to be pulled) 3) Fuel consumtion. I have got the JK CRD renegade Manual over 1 week now fuel consumtion wen't down from 13.1 to 11.5 L/Km drive the Jeep mainly with the front roof open even with 110Km you still can play the radio.
