Default Standard tyre size configurations for JK

Hi guys,

Just wondering what we're all the "factory / standard"tyre sizes we have seen over the years on JK's, need to look for a highway daily road set of tyres to put on my car.

Cheers

Have a look at the tyre placard on the drivers side door and you'll see what the OEM tyre size was for your particular JK. Mine were Goodyear Silent Armour (245/75R17).

but also note the various other size options that would still equate to the same rolling diameter eg 265/70x17 should be the same as the stock 245/75x17.

If you are just after a road set then its prob better to stick to the standard size tyre rather than going wider (could be better for fuel eco and should be cheaper to buy).

My 2008 came with 255/75R17s, also Goodyear Silent Armour.

I'd go with anything but them, unless you really like sliding around corners in the wet... at under 20kph!

You can play with tyre sizes to achieve the same diameter at http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

I found that site from this forum when I was looking around for new wheels.

Stock size for JK and JKR is 245/75/17, and the limited edition promo model currently has 255/75/17. The 245/75/17 are Goodyear Silent Amour, although I am not sure what the 255 is.

I have the stock 245/75/17 tyres and am surprised how much flack they cop. I think they are really good (contrary to most), and best of all they make very little noise on the freeway. There are obviously better tyres for off road use, but with what I do (beaches and easy-to-medium trails) I think the Silent Armours are great. And best of all getting to and from those locations can be done without a box of Panadol to sooth the headache from all the road noise! It depends on your application and personal pref. For me, I am willing to sacrifice some off road performance because I just can't cope with noisy cars, and there's something about tyre/road noise that just sends me around the twist.

the playing with simulators doesn't always have the expected result though.
i selected 285/70 r17 that they tell me should be 31.6"...reality at 40psi is 30.6"
