Default Does anyone know how to fix a hand brake????

Hi all,
I had a minor irritation the other night that I have a feeling might cost me a bit of dosh!
The little button on the end of my handbrake lever that releases the handbrake popped out. It turns out that the plastic bush that holds it in place snapped. Now of course I can't use my handbrake properly unless I pull on the nipple that remains inside. It's easy enough to release though. Mine is a 97 Cherokee sport. Anyone know what I've got to do to fix this? Do I have to buy an entire new lever assembly or is there a short cable plus button that I can get?
See ya

It's an update, the button isn't a little cylindrical thing it's got a square cross-section.

a small solid round piece of rubber (Clarke rubber) to fit in the button, drill a hole to tightly fit over the rod and super glue it into the button, and push it one when its dry, has been 4yrs and still working fine on mine

ask for a sample at Clarke rubber and wont cost a cent

Yep, there's got to be a way, there's no stress on the part and it will always fail safe. Not only that, it looks quite a messy business to replace the entire lever. I'll give it a try!
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that post Mudmonster. Since TAPATALK won't let me thank your post.

I can see me needing to do this very soon. My hand brake button is hanging out and I can't get it to go back in nice.
