Default Advice on FSJ build

Looking at a build, wagoner with an LS swap brake, suspension, and diff upgrades, potentially fitting a JK interior, re spray, 17 inch aloys and 33s
Any advice from anyone that has done engine swaps would be great to hear

I don't have Jeep specific advice, but I'm currently doing an LS swap into an RX7 and it's no joke when people say "add up what you think it'll cost, then double it". Granted I'm not just bolting in a stocker but I'm currently at 25k+ without labour and it's not running yet...

My only advice is: if BJsoffroad don't have the swap parts already engineered, don't bother trying to do it. You will be in for a world of heartache.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the RHD FSJ does have a few bits swapped from one side to the other so you might run into issues that the Americans haven't seen.

Keeping the 727 just opens you up to a world of heartache.

If you are doing an LS, get the transmission with the engine and the computer all out of the same vehicle and just adapt the transfer case (you knew this already though).

Yeah doing plenty of research before spending any money, idea is to get as much tech into the build as possible, so trans with engine will be a must for ease and tech input, thanks for the links to BJ's

No worries and good luck. A nice FSJ Chero / Wagoneer with a modern drivetrain would solve the biggest problem I had with mine: fuel consumption. It seemed like it cost me $10 every time I started it with the 360 / 4bbl.

BJs were invaluable to me in those years as well, fantastic guys to deal with (full disclosure: happy customer, not financially associated with them other than having to empty my pockets to them several times

The other thing I would definitely have done is replaced the awful instrument panel - they have some nice options in that regard and you might find yourself forced to go with modern instruments to interface with the computer on the LS.

Is diesel an option?
Plenty of choices from cummins to UD. Loads if grunt, economical to run....

never been a big fan of diesel, i think it would be a pretty expensive swap, compared to LS1.
