Default Performance tuning?!

Hey guys
after some input from those that have them, Sounds like the GDE tune is the one to get, but quite pricey! is there anything else I should or could be looking at, or should I just cough up for the GDE?
will be for a 2006 2.8 CRD. 150k on the clock.

It's a shame we do not have an active ECU tuning group on the forum as can be found in US and Europe. Will eventually happen and maybe soon.

Depending on what you do the thing you may also need is the trans upgraded.

The stock auto is fine with the GDE Eco tune, but with the Hot tune you get a bit of transmission shudder.
With the GDE tune - we got both tunes but only run the ECO (we have a stock auto).

I think the GDE is worth it just for its ability to stop the EGR valve from opening, thus protecting your engine from inhaling exhaust soot, which then mixes with the oil mist from the PCV to create the black gunk that clogs up your intake tract and can cause an expensive repair bill.

The performance and fuel economy benefits are just a bonus in my book.

I'm not running one on our KJ at the moment, but will once I can justify it. Just running the offroad mod (unplugged MAF sensor) and elephant hose mod (venting the PCV to atmosphere) at the moment, which stops the black gunk but is not ideal long term.
