Default Help needed on cooked ABS Controller for 98 ZJ Grand Cherokee

My mechanic has tried getting the ABS light off my ZJ but the ABS controller seems to be fried....he wrote:

"ABS pump circuit board are all cooked, there so brittle and the heat of the engine bays over 22 yrs has fried them all. as i said we have confirmed the sensors all work, wiring is OK, the pumps will work and everything but the ECU is OK"

Does anyone have a part number for the ecu? or tell me how does the ecu relate to the ABS pump, is it the black part at the back....as described here:

http://www.bba-reman.com/gb/content....ing_bba_repair

How would I go about getting one done in Aus if so? or would I need to hunt overseas.

Sorry for being an absolute n00b

Quite likely you'll have to look overseas or else scour wrecking yards for a used unit.

I don't know how your inspections work over there, but with the tests over here now all warning lamps have to function properly. If an ABS bulb were removed but the inspector sees ABS controller it has to have working ABS.

If however the ABS were removed and brake lines replumbed, this would be allowed. Obviously working ABS is better, but could it be removed over there?

I have just gone through a string of ABS issues on my WJ and trouble shooting the module was part of it.

The module is the black unit attached to the pump in that link you posted. I found wreckers didn't want to separate the pump from the module so you might have to buy the whole unit. Do not disconnect the ABS pump lines as they are apparently a nightmare to bleed and will probably need to take it a dealer to do properly. Also make sure the module fits your plug. The first module I bought had a different plug so was useless.

I got mine working by taking off the lid and resoldering the solders, something you might want to consider
