Default Warranty extension. Is it worth it????

Ive just purchased a 2010 unlimited diesel auto 2nd hand.
Been ask if I want to extend the warranty term.
Would like to know some other peoples thoughts on if it would be worth doing it or not?
Cheers

i am in 2 minds about this. if you are planning to modify it then i would not bother with it.
To get the extended warranty do you have to have it serviced by Jeep? If so i would not get it as you spend twice as much getting serviced at Jeep than at any reputable mechanic so you would end up paying more anyway than probably covering anything that might break.
They are a good rig but rather than replacing what breaks with another factory part it is a great opportunity to beef it up with some after market gear which is usually cheaper than OEM anyway.
my thoughts

Forget it. They will probably write to you a year out from the end of warranty and ask you again (they did that to me). THe cost was just stupid for what you get in coverage. Take the time to learn how to service your Jeep yourself, or find a friend that is a good mechanic. Parts are going to be the big expense down the track - buy them from the US is you can (much cheaper than locally).

i've looked at a few of these extend warranty things from various companies over the years and i've yet to see one that was worth the paper it was written on and most required you get the servicing done by the issuing car yard. they were in fact an absolute con job. most of these extend warranty insurance companies are owned by car yard consortiums, or car dealerships consortiums, which may give you a clue as to to their usefulness.

Just make sure you read the fine print, then re read it, and if there is anything you don't understand ask questions and make sure the answers you get are in writing.
