Default Wiring Trailer Lights

I know this topic has been raised a few times but I'm having trouble working out where to get what I'm after.

I ordered a "Rugged Ridge" wiring harness (17275.01) but found it was not appropriate. Not only did the indicators on the trailer not work properly, but when it was installed the cars left hand indicator didn't work at all.

I see DBOR sell a "7-Pin Harness" for $110 that would probably be appropriate but it doesn't look at all "Plug 'n Play", and not meaning to be rude, but it doesn't look like $110 worth of kit.

The Mopar "7 way Harness"es at first glance seem promising but are also expensive and I'm not certain the indicators would work with them either and they certainly don't seem trivial to install -it appears they hook up to the battery and break peddle as well :s
So I'm looking at building my own. I'd like the way the Mopar and rugged Ridge harnesses plug into the existing light sockets so would like to replicate this idea. Does anyone know where I could get a couple of those male and female connectors used for the lights?

Or does anyone have a better idea?

Edit: in an archived thread I found reference to part "K8220JKTB-WL" but searching for it only returns the thread itself (a "Google Whack" if you like)

I think you will find the plugs are Jeep/Chrysler unique, so probably not much of a chance of getting them.

Easiest way is the traditional splice job. Unfortunately none of the US ones will work over here as we have seperate indicators and knowing Australian standards probably use a different pin out on the trailer plug as well - hence your problem.

Yeh anyone here in australia recommending or selling the US wiring looms hasn't actually used one!!

I just went the Mopar wiring loom. It was a piece of cake to fit and it just works and won't cause me any problems with vehicle warranty. Has a silly flat plug but who cares you can get adapters.

Only used it twice but hey.

If you haver the connectors from the RR wiring loom it would be a 10 minute job to convert the loom to Aust design and wire on the 7 pin plug of your choice.

Unfortunately you are in Adelaide or I would do it for nothing its that easy, maybe some savvy Adelaide Jeepers could give you a hand.
Otherwise any mechanic/auto elec could do it in a heartbeat, but you will have to pay!
I got the Aust Mopar one with my kit and as others have said it a plug and play but I did change the flat plug to a round one.

Matt.

Thanks for your responses guys.

Unfortunately the Rugged Ridge loom only has 4 wires in it, which I think are: break, tail light, indicator (that's just one indicator) and earth, so no matter how it is wired there just isn't physically enough wires in there to make it all happen :s. It also only plugs into the left hand light so unless the right hand indicator signal is channeled down to a dummy pin on the left side somewhere there would be no way for it to receive the signal anyhow.

I'm not exactly sure what the trailer lighting requirements are in the states but I read somewhere about the break lights flashing for indicators or something. What ever it is the harnesses just don't plug into the right hand light and there simply aren't enough wires in the harness to transmit all the signals even if it did.

Where would one get an "Aust Mopar" harness? Would this be the mysterious "K8220JKTB-WL" I read about in the archived thread? The "Aust Mopar" harness is probably exactly what I'm after.
