Default Anyone drilled a cable hole in bottom of front cup holder?

I've built a mount for the detachable head for my transceiver using some 50mm PVC end caps, a bracket and sprayed black. Happy with it but really want to run the cable to the base unit down through the base of the cup holder. Has any one done something similar? I'm slightly nervous because the diagram on the 'interior trim removal' PDF kind of shows an electrical connector under the cup holder.

Also, has anyone found an easy switched power supply under the passenger seat?

Airbag/stability control module under console, I would remove console before moding. Wouldn't want fluid to get in there either.

I'm sure that it is very ergo by putting it there but I must say it kinda looks out of place. Just having the head floating there in space does not look quite right.

Also, personally I would attached it firmly and securely because when the going gets rough, the head holder might shake itself loose. Just an observation btw. No harm intended.

I agree with AV8, it does kinda look out of place. Personally, I would have mounted it inside the front cubby, thus keeping the functionality of the cupholder intact.
Anyway, your car.
I would remove the trim piece before cutting or drilling into it. Not sure on the 14's about removing the shift knob but once you have that off then the plastic surround (including cupholders) just lifts out by pulling it upwards from the front edge inside the cubby.

I installed my redarc remote head electric brake controller in between the gear stick and 4wd select knob on my 2012 Laredo, plus have my UHF in the cubby hole.
Was a big call sitting there with drill in hand, but drilled into the back of the cubby hole for the antenna cable and also down through the trim for the remote head. Both cases I didn't dismantle the dash, just removed the side panels and popped the trim up.
There's pic here on the forum under scarps WK2 or under brake controller.

I wouldn't drill anything into cup holders or the like on GC WH models

I had to rebuild my shifter couple years ago it was full of coffee and all sorts of crap not mine previous owner so anything that might let fluid of any type onto the shifter would be a no no in my book after this experience
